There are currently 27 faculty members in the section of medicinal chemistry, incluing 15 professors, 9 associate professors, 3 lecturers and teaching assistants, and 15 doctoral supervisors and 8 master supervisors, 26 of whom have PhD degrees. Twenty-two people have overseas study experiences. Among the faculty, there are 1 national young and middle-aged outstanding contribution expert, 1 national candidate for the New Century Talent Project, 2 special allowance recipients from the State Council, 3 distinguished professors from Liaoning Province, 3 outstanding experts from Liaoning Province, Liaoning There are 3 provincial teaching teachers, 8 of Liaoning Province’s Hundred-Ten Thousand Talents Project, and 7 of Liaoning Province’s University Excellent Talent Support Program.
The section undertakes the teaching of 12 theoretical courses, including "Medicinal Chemistry", "Drug Synthesis Reactions", "Chemical Pharmaceutical Technology", "Professional English", "New Drug Research and Development", "Modern Drug Design", etc., as well as Experimental courses such as "Medicinal Chemical Experiments", "Drug Synthesis Reaction Experiments" and "Chemical Pharmaceutical Technology Experiments". The courses cover all undergraduate majors including pharmaceutical engineering, medicinal chemistry, applied chemistry, pharmacy, and pharmacy.
In the past five years, a total of six provincial and school-level teaching reform projects were undertaken. The first prize for provincial teaching achievement and second prize for school-level teaching achievement were obtained. In addition, teachers edited 5 textbooks and participated in editing 7 textbooks.
While completing the undergraduate teaching work with high quality, the teachers also keep up with the forefront of international new drug research and development, focusing on the requirements of the national innovative drug research strategy and the development plan of the biomedical industry in Liaoning Province, by combining the discipline advantages and robust experiences. The research on innovative drugs for major diseases includes establishment and development of compound libraries, chemical informatics research, industrialization of generic drug synthesis processes, total synthesis of natural products and structural modifications, etc. At present, we have formed an innovative drug research group composed of professors, associate professors, and lecturers with outstanding comprehensive abilities. We are in a leading position in the same disciplines in China in terms of innovative drug research and talent training, with academic influence in the area of medicinal chemistry.
