The first-level discipline of Chemical Engineering and Technology of Shenyang Pharmaceutical University was granted the right to approve a master's degree in 2011, including five second-level disciplines: chemical engineering, biochemical engineering, applied chemistry, chemical technology and environmental chemical engineering. Among them, applied chemistry and biochemical engineering were authorized for a master's degree in 2003 and were rated as the key second-level master's discipline by the university in 2008. There are 47 teachers, including 9 professors, 18 associate professors, 19 lecturers, and 38 teachers have PhD degrees. In the past five years, 52 research projects were undertaken with a total funding of 12.196 million yuan, including 6 national-level projects. 298 scientific research papers were published, including 146 SCI-cited papers, 16 authorized patents, and 22 monographs. A total of 81 students have been graduated with master’s degree in engineering. The employment rate and the admission rate are both 100%. Graduates mainly work in domestic pharmaceutical companies, engaged in production and R&D work. Some student pursued for advanced education, like for doctorate in China, or going abroad for further study.
Relying on the educational resources of Shenyang Pharmaceutical University, the discipline keeps up with the forefront of the pharmaceutical industry, researching the production process of drugs, fine chemicals, food and health products, and key technologies for waste treatment. The discipline focus in the entire industrial chain of pharmaceutical engineering, such as drug synthesis, process optimization, pilot-scale research and development, waste treatment, and biological separation, focusing on chemical pharmaceutical process research, cultivates senior engineering and technical talents for the pharmaceutical industry.
