The first-level disciplines of chemistry at Shenyang Pharmaceutical University include five second-level disciplines: inorganic chemistry, analytical chemistry, organic chemistry, physical chemistry, polymer chemistry and physics. Currently the head of the subject is Professor Hu Chun.

The team is mainly composed of teachers from the Department of Inorganic Chemistry, Organic Chemistry, Medicinal Chemistry, Analytical Chemistry, Physical Chemistry, and Pharmaceutical Engineering. After more than ten years of scientific research and team building, the current research includes the synthesis and biological activity of heterocyclic compounds, asymmetric synthesis and applications, metal organic chemistry and metal complex chemistry, colloidal dispersion physical chemistry, chromatography Analytical chemistry, environmental analytical chemistry, pharmaceutical polymer materials and nano materials, etc. The chemistry discipline is guided by the existing research direction, based on the basic theories and methods of chemistry, around the research and development of new drugs, using design, synthesis, and analysis as the means to research and develop chemical technologies with market potential and technical content.

The discipline recruits more than 30 postgraduates each year, and currently there are more than 90 postgraduates. Among the postgraduates, 1 was awarded outstanding master's degree thesis of Liaoning Province, and more than 10 students have received national scholarships. National textbooks such as "Inorganic Chemistry", "Organic Chemistry", "Analytical Chemistry" and "Physical Chemistry", were edited by the discipline.
